Anatomy Of The Vertebral Body

The vertebral arch is formed by the pedicles which are attached to the posterior side of the vertebral body and the lamina which come together to form the top of the arch. The vertebral column also known as the spinal column is made up of 33 vertebrae.

The vertebral body is the main weight bearing portion of the spine and makes up the majority of the bone mass of each vertebra.

Anatomy of the vertebral body. It is the weight-bearing component and vertebrae in the lower portion of the column have larger bodies than those in the upper portion to better support the increased weight. The vertebral body and the vertebral arch. The vertebral arch is posterior meaning it faces the back of a person.

The spine is made of 33 individual bones stacked one on top of the other. The cavity of the vertebral body consists of cancellous bone tissue and is encircled by a protective layer of compact bone. The superior and inferior aspects of the vertebral body are lined with hyaline cartilage.

Posteriorly the body is connected to a thin ring of bone known as the arch. The flexible column extending from neck to tail made of series of bon es the vertebrae. The vertebral arch is formed by the pedicles which are attached to the posterior side of the vertebral body and the lamina which come together to form the top of the arch.

The body vertebral foramen spinous process and transverse process. Anatomy of a vertebra A typical vertebra consists of two parts. The spinal column vertebral column or backbone provides both structural and nervous system support for your entire body.

The vertebral body is more toward the front of your body or is anterior to the vertebral arch. A typical vertebra consists of an anterior body and a posterior vertebral arch. By definition the vertebrae are the bones of the spine or backbone that function to protect the spinal cord and support the rest of the body and cranium.

The arch is formed by the paired pedicles and paired laminae. The vertebral column spine or backbone is a curved structure composed of bony vertebrae that are interconnected by cartilaginous intervertebral discs. Together these enclose the vertebral foramen which contains the spinal cord.

The vertebral arch surrounds and protects the spinal cord. This spinal column provides the main support for your body allowing you to stand upright bend and twist while protecting the spinal cord from injury. It is part of the axial skeleton and extends from the base of the skull to the tip of the coccyx.

The spinal cord runs through its center. A typical vertebra consists of a body and a vertebral arch. Made up of 34 bones the spinal column holds the body upright allows it to bend and twist with ease and provides a conduit for major nerves running from the brain to the tips of the toesand everywhere in between.

Each vertebra has several important parts. Vertebral body is the thick oval segment of bone forming the front of the vertebra also called the centrum. The body serves for weight bearing.

From a side view the anterior portion of the vertebral body is closer to the front of your body while the bony ring is closer to the back. Arising from the vertebral arch are the transverse spinous superior articular and inferior articular processes. Extending from the body the transverse processesare thin columns of bone that point out to the left and right sides of the body.

The arch along with the posterior aspect of the body forms the vertebral spinal canal which contains the spinal cord. Adjacent vertebral bodies are separated by a fibrocartilaginous intervertebral disc. Posteriorly the body is connected to a thin ring of bone known as the arch.

The bodyis the main weight-bearing region of a vertebra making up the bulk of the bones mass. The arch surrounds the hollow vertebral foramen and connects the body to the bony processes on the posterior of the vertebra. A cylinder of bone known as the vertebral body makes up the majority of the lumbar vertebraes mass and bears most of the bodys weight.

A pair of transverse processes extends laterally from the vertebral arch at the junction between each pedicle and lamina. The vertebral column is divided into 5 different regions - cervical thoracic lumbar sacrum and coccyx. The body is composed of cancellous bone which is the spongy type of osseous tissue whose micro-anatomy has been specifically studied within the pedicle bones.

There are 24 vertebrae stacked on top of each other separated by intervertebral discs. The vertebral body is the largest part of the spinal bone and it comprises the anterior portion of the vertebra meaning it is located in the front relative to the bony ring that attaches in the back. Every vertebra has a body which consists of a large anterior middle portion called the centrum plural centra and a posterior vertebral arch also called a neural arch.

The vertebral body forms the anterior part of each vertebrae. Because of this the vertebral bodies progressively increase in size and thickness going down the vertebral column. The vertebral foramen provides for passage of the spinal cord.

The vertebral body consists of a trabecular bone which contains the red marrow surrounded by a thin external layer of compact bone. The vertebral column also called the spinal column spine or backbone in vertebrate animals is. Strong muscles and bones flexible tendons and ligaments and sensitive nerves contribute to a healthy spine.
