The right lung consists of three lobes.

Anatomy of the lung lobes. Left inferior lower lobe. The middle lobe is the smallest of the three right lung lobes. The right lung is divided into three lobes superior middle and inferior by the horizontal fissure and the oblique fissure which can be seen on all the surfaces of the lung.

It extends from the apex of the lung down to the horizontal and oblique fissures. Each lung consists of several distinct lobes. The left lung contains the cardiac notch an indentation in the lung that surrounds the apex of the heart.

The left lung is slightly smaller than the right lung because 23 of the heart is located on the left side of the body. It contains the apex majority of the upper part of the costal surface and the upper part of the medial surface as well. The lung parenchyma is further subdivided.

The base of the lungs is concave to follow the contour of the diaphragm. Figure 2221 Gross Anatomy of the Lungs. Texture-- Spongy Color Young brown Adults -- mottled black due to deposition of carbon particles Weight-Right lung - 600 gms Left lung - 550 gms.

Thus the right lung has three lobes while the left has two. The bronchial tree running through your lungs is made up of the windpipe bronchi bronchioles and alveoli. Gross Anatomy of the Lungs Each lung is composed of smaller units called lobes.

Right and left lung are separated by the mediastinum. The right lung has three lobes while the left is slightly smaller and divided into two. The right lung has three lobes and is slightly larger than the left lung which has two lobes.

This is because the left lung has a cardiac impression to accommodate the heart which is located slightly left of center. Each lobe is supplied by a lobar bronchus. The right lung has three lobes.

The right upper lobe of the lung is located in the upper right corner of the thoracic cavity lateral to the trachea and esophagus. The right lung consists of three lobes. The oblique and horizontal fissure divides the lungs into superior middle and inferior lobes.

Fissures separate these lobes from each other. The lungs are separated into sections called lobes two on the left and three on the right. The lobes are subdivided by bronchopulmonary segments which are supplied by the segmental bronchi.

The superior middle and inferior lobes. Bilaterally the upper lobes have apical posterior and anterior segments and the lower lobes superior apical and 4 basal segments anterior medial posterior and lateral. Anatomy of the right upper lobe.

In general each lung has 10 segments. Borders three The edges of the lungs named the anterior inferior and posterior borders. Each lung is composed of smaller units called lobes.

It is superior to horizontal and oblique fissures which separates the upper lobe from the middle and lower lobes of the right lung. There are two lungs a right and left in the body but they are different sizes. The right lung is bigger and is divided into three lobes separated by fissures while the left lobe is smaller consisting of two lobes.

The Upper Lobe Right Lung The upper lobe is the largest lobe of the right lung. Lung anatomy includes the lung parenchyma which carries part of the conduction system but is mainly involved in the gas exchange at the alveolar level. Lobes of the right lung The superior lobe of the right lung is located above the horizontal fissure and anterosuperior to the oblique fissure.

This area contains the heart trachea esophagus and many lymph nodes. The upper lobes contains 3 segments the middle lobe lingula 2 and the lower lobes 5. The Middle Lobe Right Lung.

The lungs are the major organs of the respiratory system and are divided into sections or lobes. The right lung is divided into three lobes. Although the left lung has only two lobes there is an evident projection from the upper lobe referred to as lingula which has two segments 6.

Fissures separate these lobes from each other. GROSS ANATOMY OF LUNGS Lungs are a pair of respiratory organs situated in a thoracic cavity. The lobes are divided from each other by two fissures.

The air enters the main windpipe called the trachea and continues en route to each lung via either the right or left bronchus pluralbronchi. It bears apical anterior and posterior bronchopulmonary segments. The right and left lungs do not have an identical lobular structure.

Summary Each lung is divided into lobes. The superior middle and inferior lobes. On the other hand the left lung has a single left oblique fissure and divides the left lung into two lobes.

Anatomy of the Lung. The lungs are separated by the mediastinum. The left lobe is also smaller as it has to make room for the heart.
